Since 2013, where Optima Bikes has been established now become 5th year anniversary. Let’s get to know more about us with special thanks to PPTV channel 36 for an exclusive interview by Mr.Nantachai Siripornprasarn also known as “Joe” Optima’s general manager and the founder.
What is the first thing people think of OPTIMA?
The product itself. We focus on the quality of the product. Every component that we source is a world-class one. If you compare OPTIMA with other bicycle brand at the same amount of cost, OPTIMA customer definitely gets better and more. We have the team who are passionate in bicycles and have the expertise for over 10 years. Clearly, our process can be trusted.
Next is our after sales service. Bicycle is a kind of vehicle. It needs repair and maintenance. We are proud to be a Thai brand. Our factory is also located in Thailand. Therefore, a superior after sales service to our customers is guaranteed. For example, spare parts replacement, claim or other Q&A can be processed quickly.
How long has the brand been launched in Thailand?
OPTIMA brand has been created in 5-6 year ago. However, our company has operated for more than 30 years. We began with manufacturing the frame for other branded bicycle companies, and we had done this for many decades. I viewed that it is not the best interest for our company.
If we did not start to produce the whole bicycle, we could not build our own brand. So, we started to create the assembly line. From time to time, we have developed our labors to equip with know-how and expertise. Moreover, there was an increasing popularity of fixed gear and bicycles. That was how OPTMA has been initiated.
Did you enjoy cycling even before you started OPTIMA?
Personally, I love sports. Cycling is also one of the sports. I enjoy almost every kind, and cycling is what I enjoy the most. Prior to OPTIMA, I had never deep-dived all those things in bicycles because I mainly involved with programming work although I have the engineering background.
In term of management, was it the difficult journey?
It was kind of tough experiences because we changed the direction of the company and almost completely switched the culture of the organization.
We previously and solely acted as an OEM. Now we have the team of product design, marketing and overseas sourcing. It was only hard at the beginning step. Now we are doing pretty well and smoothly.
I believe that Thai-made products are reliable. Thai brand is not second to none, OPTIMA either.
What is other highlight for the company?
The paining lines. In Thailand, there are only few companies who both produce the frame and have the painting lines. In terms of technology, each company is the same. But we have the larger scale. Our OEM customers can freely choose the different shades of color.
Invested in CSR program. What are the key activities that OPTIMA is currently doing?
We have started the brand for the past 6 years. In the first 2 years, we collaborated with Thailand Cycling Club. We arranged the event to teach the members to start riding a bicycle and provide the advices on how to ride safely. It was very successful.
We provided equipment and tools including know-how to Royal Thai Marine Corps cycling team. As well as Royal Thai Air Force, in late 2017 we had a kick-off with them by sponsoring potential athletes.
Say anything to all cyclists?
From our enriched experiences, equipped technology and know-how which has been continuously developed, I am confident that our Thai-made OPTIMA brand is second to none. We produce our bikes in Thailand for Thai people who are our main customers. Thus, you can trust OPTIMA.
